Subaru ff-1

This is the first book to be published in English/Japanese on the subject of the Subaru ff-1.  It is a project that I have been working on for many years and only came to fruition after I was introduced to Tom Ukai who had three important attributes.  Firstly, he was a gentleman who understood where I was coming from; secondly he was fluent in English (as well as Japanese obviously); and thirdly he had the right connections at the factory.

I purchased the very first Subaru ff-1 to be sold in Australia way back in June 1969 from Holdfast Motors in Adelaide.  What was obvious to me as one who understood the technicalities of car design even back then was that the Subaru ff-1 was light years (technically) ahead of the Corolla, Datsun 1000, Mazda 1200 and most of the other small cars on the market back then.

The sad part is that the Subaru ff-1 has been virtually ignored by the motoring press of the world.  Not any more!  Here is a book that details the trials and tribulations of that small group of ex-aircraft engineers at Fuji Heavy Industries who created the car and released it at the 1965 Tokyo Motor Show.  The book is hard bound, printed on 128gsm glossy art paper, runs to 170 pages and is landscape in format.  It is worthy of a place in any enthusiast’s library.
